Juvederm?
Juvederm is a line of premium dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in our skin that gives it hydration and plumpness. As we age, our skin loses HA and volume, leading to wrinkles, folds, and a sunken appearance. Juvederm fillers are designed to restore that lost volume or add new volume for enhancement. The product is a smooth, malleable gel that comes in different formulations optimized for various purposes. One of the beauties of Juvederm is how naturally it mimics the feel of your own skin, you can smile, talk, and move your face normally, and the product moves with you. Another advantage is that hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible; if ever needed, an enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve them, which provides peace of mind (though this is rarely needed when treatments are done properly). Juvederm is made by Allergan (the same company behind Botox), and it’s backed by extensive research and years of successful use worldwide.

Step 1: Comprehensive Consultation
We’ll sit down with you in a comfortable private room and talk about what brings you in. Our practitioner will assess your facial anatomy as a whole. We might gently feel areas of your face to evaluate skin thickness and underlying bone structure. Using a mirror, we can point out areas of volume loss or asymmetry and discuss what improvements are possible. This is a collaborative step, we encourage you to share what you see in the mirror and the changes you’d like.
Step 2: Individualized Pre-Care
Prior to your filler treatment, we’ll provide personalized pre-care guidance. We’ll likely take some “before” photos from several angles for your confidential record, these help in planning and will be fun to compare to your results later! Many of our patients like to schedule fillers when they have a light day or can go home after, just in case of any redness. However, it’s not usually necessary to hide away.
Step 3: Precision Treatment
Your Juvederm treatment is performed in a relaxed, reclining position in one of our state-of-the-art procedure rooms. We start by cleansing the areas to be treated with an antiseptic. If needed, we apply a topical numbing cream and give it time to take effect. Juvederm fillers also contain a bit of lidocaine within them, so as we inject, the area becomes progressively more numb. Our injector uses ultra-fine needles or specialized blunt micro-cannulas depending on the area and technique best suited. You might feel a small pinch or pressure, but patients are pleasantly surprised at how tolerable it is. We’re continuously checking in on your comfort. We may massage or mold the filler gently with our fingers to ensure it’s perfectly positioned. You’ll be handed a mirror at appropriate moments so we can decide together if more volume is needed or if it looks just right.
Step 4: Recovery & Support
We advise not to exercise vigorously for 24 hours, since elevating your heart rate and blood pressure can worsen swelling or bruising. Also, you’ll need to hold off on saunas or very hot showers until the next day. Keep the area clean and you can wear makeup by the next day if needed. We’ll mention that mild swelling or firmness is normal, and that each day for the first few days the area will evolve, don’t panic if day 2 your lips look a bit puffier; that’s typical and subsides. We also send you home with our contact information and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or concerns during the healing phase.
Step 5: Maintenance & Refinement
Juvederm results are long-lasting but they do gradually fade, so maintenance is key to preserving your refreshed look. We will keep track of the approximate duration of your filler and set reminders to touch base as that time approaches. Many clients choose to schedule their maintenance filler appointments at regular intervals to avoid ever returning to baseline volume loss.

Is Juvederm safe?
Yes, Juvederm is widely regarded as a safe and FDA-approved product for cosmetic use. Its main ingredient, hyaluronic acid, is a substance your body already produces in the skin and joints, so it’s biocompatible and generally very well-tolerated.
Does the injection hurt?
We make every effort to keep you comfortable during a Juvederm treatment, so most patients find it quite tolerable. The filler itself contains a small amount of lidocaine (a numbing agent), which helps ease discomfort as we go. Before we begin, we typically apply a topical numbing cream to the areas to be treated and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, this significantly dulls the sensation of the injections.
What will I look like right after the treatment? Can I go back to work?
Right after your Juvederm treatment, you will see improvement in the treated areas, they’ll look fuller and smoother immediately. However, you should also expect some mild post-treatment effects. Commonly, there is some redness at the injection points and possibly swelling, especially in softer tissues like the lips or under-eyes. Many patients go back to work the same day. You might not want to plan a big public-facing event or photoshoot on the same day just to be safe, but routine desk work or going out to run errands is fine.
How long will the results last, and what happens when the filler wears off?
The longevity of Juvederm results can vary from person to person, but generally you can expect the effects to last anywhere from about 6 months up to 18 months.
What if I don’t like how I look with filler? Can it be removed?
